John was not happy with 'Day Tripper' because he felt he had rushed the song to meet a deadline. However, the song was released as the B side on Parlophone on 3 December, 1965 and reached No. 5 on the Billboard chart. The A side 'We Can Work It Out' became the Beatles 10th No. 1 hit.
