A Hard Day's Night

This million seller brought the group a Grammy Award as "Best Vocal Group Performance of 1964." The flipside was another Lennon tune "I Should Have Known Better."

It's been a hard day's night
And I've been working like a dog
It's been a hard day's night
I should be sleeping like a log
But when I get home to you
I find the things that you do
Will make me feel all right
You know I work all day
To get you money to buy you things
And it's worth it just to hear you say
Your're gonna get me everything
So why on earth should I moan
'Cause when I get you alone
You know I'll feel okay
When I'm home
Everything seems to be right
When I'm home
Feeling you holding me tight
Tight, yeah
It's been a hard day's night
And I've been working like a dog
It's been a hard day's night
I should be sleeping like a log
But when I get home to you
I find the things that you do
Will make me feel all right
So why on earth should I moan
'Cause when I get you alone
You know I feel all right
When I'm home
Everything sees to be right
When I'm home
Feeling you holding me tight
Tight, yeah
It's been a hard day's night
And I've been working like a dog
It's been a hard day's night
I should be sleeping like a log
But when I get home to you
I find the things that you do
Will make me feel all right
You know I feel all right
You know I feel all right

John and Paul were asked to come up with a song that matched the movie title "A Hard Day's Night." It was the first time they had been specifically commissioned to write a song and John was the first to produce the completed number. Reports credited Ringo with the catchy title, but it had actually appeared in one of John's sketches prior to this time. The single reached the No. 1 position both in England and America.
